Security firms to merge

CRU-DataPort, a company specializing in data security, has acquired WiebeTech LLC, which develops computer storage and forensic systems. The companies announced the deal today without disclosing terms.

Randal Barber, president and chief executive officer at Vancouver, Wash.-based CRU, said the addition of Wichita, Kan.-based WiebeTech will add its products to the CRU line, and also contribute technology to CRU's own products.

James Wiebe, president and CEO at WiebeTech, said CRU's resources will strengthen WiebeTech's ability to meet customer needs. WiebeTech will become a fully supported brand within CRU, Barber said.

"Customers and resellers will find the same commitment to customer service," Wiebe said. "Online purchasing as well as reseller and distributor channels will remain the same, but will be enhanced by the channel resources of CRU-DataPort."

Wiebe has joined CRU as vice president of product development.
