Raytheon to equip Osprey

Raytheon Technical Services Co. will provide several information technology systems for the V-22 Osprey aircraft under a new $12 million award from the Naval Air Systems Command.

Raytheon will deliver mission-planning systems, interactive situational-awareness systems, a desktop test environment, facilities and simulation tools. Work will be performed in Indianapolis and is scheduled to be completed by December 2008.

Raytheon has already provided services and systems for the Osprey under two contracts awarded in February 2007 and worth about $27.7 million.

The first contract was for Raytheon's Indianapolis facility to continue providing systems and software engineering services for the Osprey.

The second contract was for development of the aircraft's mission-planning and interactive situational-awareness systems, desktop environment software and simulation products.

Raytheon Technical Services is a subsidiary of Raytheon Co., which ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
