CSC to move HQ to Falls Church

Computer Sciences Corp. has announced that it will move its corporate headquarters to Falls Church, Va., from El Segundo, Calif.

The consolidation to Northern Virginia "is without a doubt the right move to power CSC's accelerated growth and expansion," said Michael Laphen, the company's chairman, president and chief executive officer, in a written statement.

CSC will retain a presence in El Segundo, he said.

Laphen gave no specific date for the move, but a corporate representative in Falls Church said the transfer of most corporate staff is planned for this summer.

The consolidation will reduce corporate travel, improve productivity and cut expenses for operating major facilities on opposite coasts, the statement said.

Laphen noted that the Washington region is home to 11,000 of CSC's 92,000 employees worldwide, making it the largest concentration in the country.

CSC was founded in the Los Angeles area in 1959 and has grown into a global multibillion-dollar company with approximately one-third of its revenue generated by federal government business.

CSC ranks No. 11 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
