A group led by Scott Amey, co-founder of RS Information Systems Inc., has acquired Amyx Inc., a small business that provides management and technology services to the government.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Amyx pulled in just under $10 million in revenue in 2007.

Amey was the chief operating officer of RSIS until he sold his interest and left the company in 2004. He later formed the Amey Group with several other investors. This is the group's first acquisition.

"This acquisition is consistent with our focus on finding a well-managed, top quality platform company with an impeccable reputation," he said.

Although Amey is the principal investor, others include David Karlgaard, former president of PEC Solutions; Mark Hughes, former sector president of Science Applications International Corp.; and Satya Akula, former president and chief executive officer at AC Technologies.

Citizens Bank also provided some financing to complete the deal, Amey said.

BB&T Capital Markets/Windsor Group served as the investment banking adviser to Amyx.

The company was founded in 1999 by Cheryl Amyx, who will continue in a senior leadership position.

Amey is the new CEO for the company, which will keep the Amyx name and continue to operate out of its Alexandria, Va., headquarters.

The company specializes in program integration, program and project management, information management, enterprise architecture and business process improvement. Major customers include the Army, Defense Information Systems Agency and parts of the Defense Logistics Agency.
