Accenture completes DOD consultancy buy

Accenture LLP has completed its acquisition of Gestalt LLC, a private consulting company that provides mission-support services to the Defense Department. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

Gestalt offers command-and-control systems and solutions that facilitate interoperability and collaboration, so armed forces can share battlefield information during joint military operations.

The Camden, N. J., company also provides services related to modeling and simulation, advanced decision-support technologies, energy management solutions and tactical collaborative networks. Its clients include the armed forces, Defense Department Joint Forces Command and regional power grid management organizations.

Gestalt's 250 employees are expected to join Accenture's Public Service operating group as part of Accenture National Security Services. The Gestalt acquisition follows Accenture's other recent defense acquisitions, including Maxim Systems Inc. and George Group Consulting LLC.

Last month Accenture expanded its information technology offerings with the acquisition of Corliant Inc., a privately held consulting firm that specializes in advanced IP networks.

Accenture of Hamilton, Bermuda, ranks No. 28 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
