Unisys wins dual Idaho health care system awards

Unisys Corp. will design, develop and implement a modern health care information management system for the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare under two contracts worth up to $167.5 million.

The contracts for the state's Medicaid program consist of a system design, development and implementation phase for two years, followed by five years of operations, for a total $116.5 million. There is an additional three-year optional extension worth $51 million.

Unisys bid on and won two of four Medicaid contracts in Idaho ? for the Medicaid Management Information System and the Electronic Document Management System.

The new Medicaid Management Information System, Health PAS, is a health care payer administration solution developed with commercial software.

The design, development and implementation phase of the project is expected to take about two years, during which time Unisys will configure Health PAS, conduct testing to verify functionality and implement the new system.

Idaho will continue processing payments and benefits while configuring the system to perform more tasks.
