Perot Systems' Ballard steps down

Jim Ballard, who has served as president of Perot Systems Government Services since 2002, announced his resignation effective today. The company has named Eugene Carrick to replace him.

Carrick, who joined Perot Systems in November, brings more than 26 years of experience in the intelligence, defense and civilian markets.

He most recently served as executive vice president for national security at Perot Systems. Before that, he directed a $480 million federal information technology division at Northrop Grumman Corp. He also led programs related to defense systems acquisition, NASA and military space operations and intelligence mission support in the Air Force.

Ballard spent 24 years in the Navy, serving as an engineering duty officer for submarines before joining ADI Technology Inc. in 1997. He was promoted to chief operating officer in 1999. Perot Systems purchased ADI in 2002 as its government platform and under Ballard's direction, Perot Systems GS has grown from $4 million to $600 million in annual revenues, according to the company.

Ballard said he chose to leave the company to pursue other opportunities. "My decision to move on was a very difficult one," he said in a statement. "Under Lee's direction, I am confident that Perot Systems will continue to advance its mission in the federal industry."

Perot Systems Government Services of Fairfax, Va., ranks No. 60 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
