CSC to assist Navy's cybersecurity program

Computer Sciences Corp. has won a Navy contract to provide program management and information technology services for the Naval Network Warfare Command's Cyber Asset Reduction Security and Task Force program. The four-year contract has a potential value of $66 million.

Under terms of the award, CSC and its team of subcontractors will help improve the Navy's IT security and systems interoperability, reduce its land-based IT infrastructure and increase the return on investment.

CSC also will provide project management, asset discovery and configuration, systems architecture, capacity and availability for the Navy and Marine Corps Intranet. NMCI is the Navy's link to the Global Information Grid.

The program is an important aspect of the Naval Network Warfare Command's plan for transition to enterprise networks, said Jim Sheaffer, president of CSC's North American public sector unit.

CSC's subcontractors include C4 Planning Solutions LLC of Blythe, Ga., a defense contractor specializing in facilities management and information security systems and services; and Smartronix Inc. of Quantico, Va., a provider of networking and systems management, information systems security and business management services.

CSC of El Segundo, Calif., ranks No. 11 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
