General Dynamics gets first Win-T order from Army

General Dynamics C4 Systems has won its first task order to begin deploying a broadband network and satellite capabilities for U.S. soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The company, which is a business unit of General Dynamics Corp., announced today it has received a $78.3 million initial order from the Army under the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Increment One (Win-T) contract. The total value of the contract is projected at up to $1.4 billion.

Under the task order, General Dynamics will begin delivering networking hubs, nodes and management posts to serve battalion, brigade, division and corps command posts.

The WIN-T program has four major increments. General Dynamics is the prime contractor on the first three increments. The fourth has not been awarded yet. Subcontractors for the first increment include Lockheed Martin Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp., the release said.

General Dynamics, headquartered in Falls Church, Va., employs about 83,000 people and has revenues of $27 billion. It ranks No. 7 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
