DRS to support Army vehicle diagnostics

DRS Technologies Inc. has won multiple contracts from the Army to produce test equipment and provide diagnostic program support for heavily armored vehicles.

DRS Technologies Inc. has won contracts totaling $26 million from the Army to produce test equipment and provide diagnostic program support for the Army Program Manager for the Heavy Brigade Combat Team in Warren, Mich.

DRS will design and deliver hardware and software for direct support electrical system test sets. The company also will provide system technical support, technical updates, and program management for the combat team's chassis modernization and embedded diagnostic program.

The company's Test and Energy Management unit in Huntsville, Ala., will perform the work. The unit specializes in manufacturing automatic and electronic test equipment that monitors, diagnoses and analyzes the performance of electronic components on Army and Marine Corps tanks and armored fighting vehicles.

The Army's Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command Life Cycle Management Command in Rock Island, Ill., awarded DRS the contracts.

DRS, based in Parsippany, N.J., provides product, services and support to military forces and intelligence agencies. The company ranks No. 30 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
