Affiliated Computer Services Inc. will provide pharmacy benefits management services to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare's Medicaid program under a contract that could be worth as much as $18.5 million.
The 10-year award calls for ACS to provide several specialized solutions, including pharmacy claims processing, automated prior authorizations, help-desk support, prospective and retrospective drug use reviews and federal and supplemental drug rebate administration and reporting.
The award extends ACS' relationship with Idaho that originated in 2002, when the company installed SmartPA, an automated prior-authorization solution.
ACS supports more than 23 million program recipients and processes nearly 550 million Medicaid health care claims annually, representing close to $50 billion in provider payments. It is the country's largest government program pharmacy benefits administrator, serving 28 states, the District of Columbia and the Labor Department.
Dallas-based ACS ranks No. 58 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
