Northrop wins law enforcement exchange renewal

Northrop Grumman Corp. has won a five-year contract valued at up to $47 million to continue providing information technology support to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service's information-exchange system with federal, state and local agencies.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman IT of McLean, Va., will operate and maintain the Navy's Law Enforcement Information Exchange system and will expand the system to new areas.

The contract work, which the company's IT sector will perform in Reston, Va., will include data conversion and software and interface development. Subcontractors participating in the project include Perot Systems of Plano, Texas; and Comsys of Houston.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract has a one-year base period and four optional years.

Northrop Grumman IT has worked on the Navy's Law Enforcement Information Exchange system under a previous contract since 2004.

The information sharing system for police officers and criminal investigators was initiated in Washington and Virginia, and has expanded to Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Texas and the Washington, D.C., region. The system will be implemented in North Carolina and southern California in late 2007.
