Industry honors its leaders, partners

Up-and-comers and established companies alike were honored Oct. 10 as part ofthe fifth annual Greater Washington Government Contractor of the Yearprogram.Four companies and three executives were recognized for their accomplishments during the past year. In addition, two government officials were named Public Sector Partners of the Year.Charles Rossotti, co-founder of American Management Systems Inc. and former commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.The annual awards are provided through a partnership of the Fairfax County, Va., Chamber of Commerce, Professional Services Council and Washington Technology."This is yet another crop of outstanding companies and people," said Stan Soloway, Professional Services Council's president."They remind us again," he added, "that despite all the negative perceptions and myths that surround the industry today, it is in fact an industry characterized by excellence, commitment and high performance."The winning companies were judged on factors such as community service, quality of worklife and significant accomplishments during 2006. The executives were judged on their contribution and work in the community, with the government contracting industry and for their company.Rossotti was picked for the hall of fame because of his years of service to the government contracting industry, particularly as one of the first business leaders to launch a company focused on information technology services."Although he is still active in the field, when you think of the executives who played key roles in building this industry, Charles is clearly one of the first names that come to mind," Soloway said.Ace Info Solutions Inc.
