ICF to help DHS with chemical facility security

ICF International Inc. has won a professional services contract with the Homeland Security Department to help implement new security standards for facilities handling large quantities of chemicals, petroleum and natural gas. The contract may be worth as much as $15 million over four years.

Under the terms of the contract, ICF of Fairfax, Va., will provide support in the areas of program management, communications and acquisitions management. The company also will assist with administration, business and enterprise planning and operation and maintenance of program tools and tracking systems in support of putting the new standards into effect.

Under a law passed by Congress, the department issued the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards earlier this year for plants that manufacture, use, store or distribute large quantities of certain chemicals. Most of the facilities covered are chemical plants, petroleum refineries and liquefied natural gas storage facilities.
