General Dynamics to support AF combat ID

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems has won a five-year, $20 million contract from the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio to analyze advanced combat identification systems.

The Fairfax, Va.-based business unit of General Dynamics Corp. received the contract for target recognition and advanced identification development and evaluation.

Under the terms of the contract, General Dynamics will determine which technologies perform best in missions. To achieve this, the company will define combat identification requirements, assess operational effectiveness and plan and conduct ground and flight data collections. It also will develop target recognition algorithms, create signature databases and support transitions of such technologies in the field.
