GAITS enrolled for Education security management

Global Analytic IT Services Inc. has won a contract from the Education Department to provide managed security services.

Global Analytic IT Services Inc. has won a contract from the Education Department to provide managed security services for the department's Office of Chief Information Officer.

Under the 10-year contract, worth $51 million, GAITS will serve about 6,500 users. The hardware involved includes about the same number of desktop computers and about 700 network servers, according to the company. The contract's primary goal is to have the company independently verify and validate the department's existing policy and controls designed to mitigate threats to critical assets.

The company will provide security monitoring services around the clock, incident management, and security services engineering, auditing and compliance. The company's partners on the project include Project Performance Corp. and Symantec Corp.

GAITS, based in Alexandria, Va., has a growing portfolio of civilian and defense customers ask the company for independent verification and validation and information assurance technology services, said Thomas Asefi, the company's president.
