Carahsoft to market Vizioncore software to feds

Carahsoft Technology Corp. will sell software made by Vizioncore Inc. through the General Services Administration schedule as part of a new partnership between the two companies.

Under the agreement, Carahsoft of Reston, Va., will serve as master GSA schedule holder for a software platform by Vizioncore designed to help organizations safeguard and make optimum use of their virtualized environments, Vizioncore said in a news release.

Virtualization makes it possible for organizations to run multiple operating systems and multiple applications on the same computer at the same time to increase hardware use and flexibility. The approach essentially "virtualizes" hardware into software to create a fully functional virtual machine that can run its own operating system and applications like a "real" computer.

A growing number of government agencies are turning to virtualization to improve many areas in information technology that have proved difficult and challenging, said Chris Akerberg, vice president of global sales and marketing at Vizioncore.

Carahsoft teams with industry leaders to jointly develop solutions that will provide value and cost savings to its customers, said Craig Abod, Carahsoft's president said in the news release.

Vizioncore is a VMware community source member and technical alliance partner, and Carahsoft acts as master GSA schedule holder for VMware.
