ViaSat to equip South Korea with tactical terminals

ViaSat Inc. will deliver Multifunctional Information Distribution System terminals to the government of South Korea under a $2.4 million contract that takes effect next May.

The terminals are ground-based low volume terminals. They gather battlefield information and present it as a digital view, which gives military units greater awareness of tactical situations in which they are involved. The Carlsbad, Calif., company serves the U.S. military and America's defense partners in other nations.

The terminals are secure, with high data capacity and resistance to electronic jamming technologies. The two-year contract also calls for associated support equipment.

The company has field offices in Washington and Baltimore, and has its Comsat Laboratories division based in Germantown, Md. It also has offices in other U.S. cities and in Australia, China, India, Italy and Spain.
