Thales targets command and control market

Thales Communications Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of the French defense company Thales Group, has launched a new unit focused on command and control technologies.

The Land and Joint Systems Division will sell and support a wide range of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance technologies, which are called C4ISR.

Diane Reinke was named vice president to lead the new organization. She joined Thales in 2004 as a vice president for business development. Before that she spent 20 years at Lockheed Martin Corp., where she was director of business development for Army C4I programs.

"With her thorough understanding of the U.S. markets and impressive track record of bringing the most innovative, responsive solutions to customers, Diane is the ideal choice to head up this important initiative," said Mitch Herbets, chief executive officer and president of Thales Communications.

Thales ACS ranks No. 69 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
