The Defense Department has chosen TeleCommunication Systems Inc. to provide products and services in support of various DOD initiatives under a new contract. The indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract spans five years and could be worth up to $25 million.

TCS, based in Annapolis, Md., is the only prime contractor on the vehicle. DOD has issued the first task orders already, and they alone are worth more than $6.2 million, the company said.

TCS main product line, called SwiftLink, includes rugged, portable satellite communications systems intended for battlefield use.

"TCS has a proven track record of delivering reliable and secure communications solutions for the DOD to help meet ongoing missions both here at home as well as around the globe," said Maurice Tosé, TCS' chairman, president and chief executive officer.
