Greg Rothwell, former Homeland Security Department acquisition guru, has opened a consulting firm to help companies trying to crack the government market.
Rothwell's last day at Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. was Sept. 7. He joined the company 18 months ago after leaving DHS, where he served as chief procurement officer. Rothwell has worked for 10 agencies during a 34-year government career.
"Acquisition is my specialty," he said, "and my passion is homeland security."
His consulting firm is called EverMay Consulting Group, which is named for his two daughters, who were both born in the month of May, he said.
"Basically, I want to help companies bring their solutions to Homeland Security and help in the fight against global terrorism," he said. He wants to work with both product and services companies.
Leaving Booz Allen was one of the toughest decisions of his career, Rothwell said. "But going out on my own is something I've always wanted to do and now really was the time to do it," he said.
