Tyler Technologies Inc. won a $5.5 million contract to supply software for property valuations and taxes to Nassau County, N.Y.
Under the terms of the contract, Tyler of Dallas will provide its Integrated Assessment System to help the county improve property tax administration.
The deal allows the county to extend its current use of Tyler's real property assessment software to include appeals, tax billing, collection and refunds, the company said.
A major part of the project will be customizing the assessment appeals application to meet requirements of the county's Assessment Review Commission.
Tyler plans a phased approach to implementation. It will focus first on meeting the commission's workflow management needs by configuring the workflow for high-volume, high-value tasks affecting assessments.
Nassau County, which has more than 1.3 million residents, is a suburban county that lies to the east of New York City. The Long Island county's 418,000 parcels of property had a total market value of about $235 billion in 2006, making it the second largest assessing unit in New York State.
Tyler provides information management products and services to local governments.
