Nortel gets Courts messaging deal

Nortel Government Solutions has won a contract from the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts to support messaging and collaboration services essential to the federal judicial system.

Under the terms of the agreement, Nortel Government Solutions of Fairfax, Va., will provide a wide array of services for IBM Lotus Notes. The company's services will also support IBM Domino messaging and collaboration and Blackberry wireless e-mail devices in Washington D.C. and San Antonio.

The services include help desk, technical support, and documentation. They also involve research, planning, design and quality assurance.

The one-year contract has three option periods, Nortel said. The first year of the contract is worth $5 million, said Dick Carelli, a spokesman for the Administrative Office.

The Administrative Office is the support agency for the judicial branch of the U.S. Federal Government. As such, it handles the administrative, program and IT services for federal courts.

Nortel Government Solutions ranks No. 90 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
