Lockheed to operate volunteer call center
Lockheed Martin Corp. has won a contract from the Corporation for National and Community Service to manage fulfillment services and operate the independent federal agency's integrated call center.
Lockheed Martin Corp. has received a five-year, $9 million contract from the
Corporation for National and Community Service to manage fulfillment services and operate the independent federal agency's integrated call center.
Under terms of the contract, Lockheed Martin will provide a central contact point for CNCS applicants, members and alumni through toll-free telephone lines, e-mail, facsimile, U.S. Postal Service mail and Web-based transactions. Lockheed Martin will also handle ordering, fulfillment and effective inventory management of CNCS materials.
Lockheed Martin has supported CNCS in a wide range of outreach and recruitment activities, including call centers, mailing list management and direct mailing services since 2001.
CNCS, which includes about 600 employees throughout the United States and U.S. territories, provides opportunities for Americans to volunteer in their communities and administers the Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America programs.
The agency, which was created in 1993, merged the work and staffs of two predecessor agencies, Action and the Commission on National and Community Service.
Lockheed Martin of Bethesda, Md., ranks No. 1 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
