Joint venture grabs Navy training deal

A joint venture between American Systems and Data Management Services has won a contract that could be worth up to $25 million to provide instructional support to the Naval Personnel Development Command.

Under the terms of the contract, the joint venture partners will furnish the command with professional, instructional, administrative and technical support services at ports where U.S. naval fleets are based.

The services are intended to bolster fleet readiness by helping Navy personnel meet specific performance and course completion standards as set by training officers of the different areas where the fleets are concentrated.

The one-year contract has four option years. The Naval Air Warfare Center's Training Systems Division awarded the work.

American Systems is based in Chantilly, Va., and Data Management Services is headquartered in Silver Spring, Md.
