Alion gets Army Battle Command deal

Alion Science and Technology Corp. has won a contract worth up to $47 million to provide the Army Battle Command Directorate with analytic, engineering, programmatic and scientific expertise.

The indefinite-delivery, indefinite quantity contract calls for Alion of McLean, Va., to provide expertise in support of the Army G-37 Battle Command Directorate.

Alion will support modeling and simulation management, education and training support, software blocking management and monitoring of the Central Technical Support Facility at Fort Hood, Texas, which supports theater communications systems.

Work on the five-year, IDIQ contract runs through July 2012, if all options are exercised.

The Army Battle Command Directorate is responsible for integrating, synchronizing and standardizing battle command and modeling and simulation programs throughout the Army and ensuring that they are consistent with other military processes.

Alion, which has supported the Army Battle Command Directorate since 1996, said its subcontractors on the project include Science Applications International Corp., JB&A Inc., a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business; Craig Technical Consulting, an 8(a) certified minority- and woman-owned business; Professional Solutions Inc. and SSB Inc., a Web site provider.

Alion ranks No. 79 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
