Lockheed gets Army depot work

Lockheed Martin Corp. has won a $16.5 million contract from the Army Aviation and Missile Command to provide life-cycle contractor support to Letterkenny Army Depot for two mobile rocket systems.

Lockheed Martin, based in Bethesda, Md., will support the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System and the Multiple Launch Rocket System M270A1 upgrade. Under the terms of the contract, the company will provide product support to users, improve and sustain the core capabilities at the depot, and introduce business process improvements and updated technology related to depot maintenance operations and products.

One of Letterkenny Depot's key missions is air defense and tactical missile ground support equipment. The depot, in Chambersburg, Pa., includes facilities, personnel and equipment to perform maintenance and to rebuild and overhaul tactical missile and air defense systems. The components serviced at the depot include radar and communication centers and power plants and vehicles. Lockeed Martin's work is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2009.
