CB radios to wireless

At a dinner I recently attended, someone made a joke about the citizens band radio fad. I chuckled along with everyone else, but I don't agree that CBs should simply be dismissed.CB radios were a limited technology that exploded on the scene and then faded, but the drivers for the explosion are still with us.People flocked to CBs because they wanted to be connected, and they wanted information. My parents still have a CB they plug into their car's cigarette lighter on long trips. They listen to the truckers for news of traffic problems and, of course, for where the bears are ? police officers for the non-CBers out there.My view is that CBs were a harbinger of the wireless revolution under way today.As staff writer Doug Beizer describes in our cover story, wireless solutions are becoming more robust and diverse.
