Boeing to continue AF communications support

The Boeing Co. will provide high-speed Internet communications and direct broadcast satellite television service to the Air Force Air Mobility Command under a new $30 million contract awarded to the company.

Boeing Service Co. of Richardson, Texas, won the contract. The company will provide the Boeing Broadband Satcom Network service to the Air Force Air Mobility Command.

The network provides high-speed Internet communications and direct broadcast satellite TV service for the U.S. government's aircraft and airborne customers. Supported aircraft include C-32s, C-40s, E-4s as well as a spectrum of VIP and special air mission aircraft.

Formerly Connexion by Boeing, the satellite network transitioned to the U.S Air Force earlier this year to better meet its customers' needs.

The total value of the modified contract is $53.6 million. This is the fourth option period and represents the fifth year of service. The fifth option period, if exercised, would increase the contract value to nearly $72 million.
