Compudyne rolls out Nebraska CAD system

CompuDyne Corp. has finished installing a statewide computer-aided dispatch system for the Nebraska State Patrol.

Tiburon Inc., the company's public safety and justice unit, built and deployed the system in six emergency communication centers throughout the state. The six centers are located in Lincoln, Omaha, Grand Island, Norfolk, North Platte and Scottsbluff. The work was performed under a $1.1 million contract.

The new CAD system will enable the customer to consolidate the workflow of dispatch activities among centers, better document service calls and provide faster response in emergency situations, Compudyne said.

Tiburon designed the system to continue working in the event of a catastrophic disaster. Separate CAD systems at each communication centers are tied together by a network that makes it possible for one communication center to compensate if another becomes interoperable.

The new CAD systems runs on Microsoft Windows workstations and offers an integrated mapping feature.

Tiburon is based in Pleasonton, Calif. Compudyne is located in Annapolis, Md.
