Networx, from all angles

When Washington Technology and its sister publication, Government Computer News, were acquired by Federal Computer Week's parent company in December, one of the first tasks was to figure out how these three publications fit together.We quickly drew our boundaries. Washington Technology focuses on the business of government contractors, GCN covers technology and FCW handles management and policy issues.Even with those demarcations, there is still overlap. But rather than run from that, we've embraced it.In several issues each year we will take a 360-degree view of a topic that cuts across all segments of the market. In this case, it is the General Services Administration's Networx telecommunications contract. In the June 25 issues of Washington Technology, FCW and GCN, there are stories exploring Networx and what it means to our readers. Online, the stories will be packaged together to give a 360-degree view of Networx.This issue also marks a changing of the guard for Washington Technology. Our art director, Virginia Bledsoe, is leaving the company.Ginny has been my art director since I became editor two years ago, and she redesigned the publication from a tabloid to a magazine. She's put countless long hours into Washington Technology.Frankly, it is hard for me to think of Washington Technology without her. But she has laid a strong foundation graphically for our continued growth and evolution. So although she may be moving on, her legacy and spirit remain. You are holding a part of it in your hands, right now.We'll miss you, Ginny.
