Multimax brings with it several large task order contracts such as the Army's Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 2 Services and the Air Force's NetCents contracts. The company also is a major subcontractor to EDS Corp. on its Navy-Marine Corps Intranet contract.

Multimax will become part of a new unit for Harris called Harris Information Technology Services, led by Ted Hengst and based in Falls Church, Va.

"Government IT is a key growth market for Harris," said Howard Lance, Harris chairman, president and chief executive officer. "We have now almost doubled the resources we are applying to this important market, and expect that opportunities for growth should increase across an expanded customer base."

For the year ended, March 31, Multimax brought in $315 million in revenue and operating income of $55 million, Harris said. Major customers include the Navy, Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, departments of Homeland Security, State and Veterans Affairs and the Federal Aviation Administration.
