Cubic tightens its structure

A reorganization at Cubic Corp includes the company's transportation group president retiring and its defense group president becoming a senior advisor. The two presidency positions will be eliminated.

Gerald Dinkel will become a senior advisor, and Richard Efland will retire at the end of this year.

The defense group units will be managed by the existing heads of the readiness systems, mission support and the communications and electronics units. In the transportation group, the presidency functions will be assumed by a directorate of existing senior vice presidents.

Both the defense and transportation groups are reducing their personnel by about 10 to 15 people each. Cubic already has done this in the defense group; it expects to complete the reduction in the transportation group over the next 10 days.

Cubic of San Diego has 5,950 employees and had revenue of $821.4 million in 2006. The company ranks No. 83 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
