Raytheon undertakes security screening at two Florida airports

Raytheon Co. will provide passenger and baggage screening services to two South Florida airports through a $16.3 million contract.

Under the contract, Raytheon Technical Services Company of Reston, Va., will provide the services to Key West International Airport and Florida Keys Marathon Airport.

Raytheon is teamed on the project with McNeil Security Inc., a unit of professional services company McNeil Technologies of Springfield, Va.

Raytheon plans to offer jobs to existing Transportation Security Administration Key West federal transportation security offers.

The screening services are being provided through the TSA Screening Partnership Program. Airport authorities since 2004 have been eligible under the program to submit an application to TSA to use private vendors.

Raytheon Technology Services specializes in mission support, counter-proliferation and counter-terrorism, homeland security, base and range operations and customized engineering and manufacturing.

Raytheon of Waltham, Mass., has 73,000 employees and had annual sales of $20.3 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 6 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
