Rawson named Texas CTO
The Texas Board of Information Resources has named Brian Rawson as the state's chief technology officer and executive director of its Information Resources Department.
The Texas Board of Information Resources last week named Brian Rawson as the state's new chief technology officer and executive director of its Information Resources Department.
Rawson had served as interim CTO since Larry Olson resigned from the position in December 2006 to pursue other activities. Rawson has 23 years' experience in a variety of information technology management and leadership positions, the department said in an announcement.
"We have set a clear strategic direction for information technology in Texas, and although we looked at a number of strong candidates for this position, Brian clearly possesses both the skills and the deep experience to execute on that plan," said Cliff Mountain, the board's chairman.
Rawson holds a bachelor's degree in data processing and analysis from the University of Texas at Austin, and a master's degree in business administration from St. Edward's University also in Austin.
