Northrop to build specialized planes for Air Force

Northrop Grumman Corp. has won an $11.5 million contract from the Air Force to produce five airplanes with specialized radar and intelligence processors.

The company's Integrated Systems Air Combat Systems division in San Diego will build two planes with enhanced integrated sensor suites, and three more with radar technology, integrated sensor suites and spare parts.

The work will be completed by March 2008, according to the company.

Northrop Grumman ranked No. 3 on Washington Technology's 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
