Unisys to nurture Ind. child welfare system

Unisys Corp. won a contract from the Indiana Child Services Department to continue supporting the state's child welfare information system. The 18-month contract is worth about $8 million, company officials said.

Unisys of Blue Bell, Pa., will continue supporting the system by providing maintenance, monitoring and help desk services and support.

As for enhancements, the company will make sure the system complies with federal requirements for statewide automated child welfare information systems. Unisys also will redesign the user interface so that the application is easy and more effective for caseworkers to use.

The work is an extension of a contract the company began working on more than a decade ago. Since that time, Unisys has won a series of maintenance and support contracts to enhance the system based on customer needs.

Unisys has about 32,000 employees and had annual sales of $5.7 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 20 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
