Serco battens down Navy IT services pact

Serco Inc., a provider of government and military support services, has won a new contract from the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center to continue providing engineering and installation services for command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems at ship, shore and submarine locations.

The five-year indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, performance-based contract, referred to as Sea Enterprise West, has a potential value of $208 million if all options are exercised. Work locations include San Diego; Bremerton, Wash.; Everett, Wash.; and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Serco, which has operated under a similar contract with SPAWAR since 1997, will provide program management, engineering design and installation support services to deliver fully operational C4ISR systems. A key objective of the contract is to reduce the costs of installations by improving productivity and achieving long-term efficiencies.

"SPAWAR recognizes the need to establish effective partnerships with industry to support processes that will streamline installations and lower overall costs," said Kent Brown, vice president of the Engineering Business Unit at Serco.
