General Dynamics gets Immigration Services tech deal

General Dynamics Corp. has won a task order worth up to $227 million to provide technology support to the Citizenship and Immigration Services bureau.

The Homeland Security Department's Central Acquisition office announced the award this week.

Under the contract, General Dynamics of Falls Church, Va., will deliver services known as technology operations and maintenance to about 16,000 federal and contractor employees at more than 280 CIS locations nationwide via an IT Infrastructure Library of best practices.

DHS said General Dynamics will provide program management services, service desk operations, hardware maintenance and infrastructure operations, server and PC management and mainframe computer operations.

The company received the task order under DHS' umbrella Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge solutions contract.

The initial contract award is for $24 million. With options it could rise as high as $227 million.

General Dynamics has 81,000 employees and annual sales of $24.1 billion. The company ranks No. 4 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors. The 2007 Top 100 list is due out May 14.
