Conway to lead ACS' federal solutions

In his new position as senior vice president and managing director of federal solutions within ACS' Government Solutions Group, Conway will report to Tom Burlin, who oversees the group. Burlin came to ACS two years ago following a 26-year career with Big Blue.

Conway previously was IBM partner for defense sales and business development. Before that, he headed IBM's Navy and Marine Corps business unit after serving as practice executive on the Defense Department enterprise resource planning and e-business practice. He also served for a period as executive program manager for the Agriculture Department's LAN, WAN and voice program.

From 1995 until he joined IBM in 1997, Conway worked for Lockheed Martin Federal Systems.

As head of ACS' federal solutions, Conway will be responsible for all nonhealthcare related federal business, including ACS contracts and subcontracts with the Social Security Administration, Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., U.S. Courts, and departments of Homeland Security, State, and Treasury.

Conway holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia.

ACS of Dallas has about 58,000 employees and had annual sales of $5.3 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors. The 2007 Top 100 list is due out May 14.
