BearingPoint wins $218M USAID Afghanistan deal
BearingPoint Inc. won a contract from the Agency for International Development to help prop up and boost government and educational services in Afghanistan.
BearingPoint Inc. won a $218.6 million contract from the Agency for International Development to help prop up and boost government and educational services in Afghanistan.
USAID has developed the Afghans Building Capacity Program, which is one the largest individual contracts awarded by the United States to help rebuild the country since the fall of Taliban in 2001.
Under the contract, which runs through January 2012, BearingPoint will work with USAID to strengthen the performance of ministries, businesses, nongovernmental organizations, universities and local governments. The contractor also will work to increase skills and in the public, private and higher education sectors.
BearingPoint of McLean, Va., has more than 17,000 employees worldwide and ranks No. 23 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
