Apogen Technologies has won a two-year, $5.4 million contract renewal from the Treasury Department to continue providing operations and maintenance services to the IRS.

Under the contract, Apogen's Federal Solutions Group will provide the IRS' Office of Chief Counsel with network support and systems operation, customer support, help desk and trouble ticket management. The contract also calls for redesigning the chief counsel's intranet.

Under the previous contract, Apogen of McLean, Va., managed the chief counsel's information technology system and provided continuity of operations following a flood last summer in the IRS' downtown offices, forcing agency employees to move into temporary quarters in Crystal City, Va.

"Securing this contract is a critical component to our strategy to maintain and grow business within the IRS," said Paul Leslie, CEO of Apogen Technologies, referring to the company's eight-year contractual relationship with the agency.

Apogen, a unit of QinetiQ North America, was purchased by QNA in 2005 for $288 million. Apogen ranked No. 51 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
