ACS snares Labor BPO deal
Affiliated Computer Services won a contract from the Labor Department to process medical bills for its Office of Workers' Compensation Programs.
Affiliated Computer Services Inc. won a three-year, $74.8 million contract from the Labor Department to process medical bills for its Office of Workers' Compensation Programs.
Under the contract, ACS of Dallas will handle all medical bills and support services under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act, Division of Coal Mine Workers' Compensation and Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act.
Specifically, ACS will oversee claims resolution, prior authorization and enrollment, call-center support, as well as manage the office's portal.
ACS operates about 100 call centers worldwide staffed by almost 18,000 customer agents. The company's services include inquiry handling and problem solving, technical support and other services for commercial and government clients.
ACS processes nearly 475 million Medicaid health care claims annually, representing more than $47 billion in provider payments. The company manages 30 programs in 25 states and the District of Columbia.
ACS has about 58,000 employees and had annual sales of $5.3 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 48 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
