Pa. county taps Lawson for business software

Lawson Software won a contract from Bucks County, Pa., to provide enterprise resource planning software for key business functions.

Under the contract, Lawson of St. Paul, Minn., will furnish county employees with software that manages human resources, finance and supply chain functions.

Company officials declined to provide the contract value, but information posted on the Bucks County Web site by county commissioners indicates the contract is worth $1.8 million.

The county purchased the software packages to help increase productivity and data sharing among departments, the company said. The ERP project is designed to eliminate duplicate data entry and enhance operational efficiency by making information available to county personnel via a centralized system.

Bucks County, adjacent to Philadelphia, has about 2,600 county employees and services more than 620,000 residents. It is the third largest county in the Keystone State.

Lawson, a provider of software and services, has more than 120 public sector customers.
