Northrop to enhance DOD document system

Northrop Grumman Corp. won a $4.9 million follow-on contract from the Defense Logistics Agency to improve an agency management information system that gives civilian and Defense Department users access to unclassified documents.

Under the contract, Northrop Grumman Information Technology of McLean, Va., will design new applications and improvements for the Acquisition Streamlining and Standardization Information System, also known as Assist, while maintaining existing applications, databases and document repositories.

Northrop Grumman IT also will modernize the user and maintenance platforms and provide help desk technical support. The contractor will perform the work in Chantilly, Va., and Philadelphia over a 10-month base period and four one-year option periods.

Assist is a comprehensive document management and digital library that provides Web access to all current military and federal specifications and standards referenced in DOD contracts.

Northrop Grumman of Los Angeles has 120,000 employees and had annual sales of $30 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
