Northrop expands Northern Va. facility

As part of its plan to expand its information technology business, Northrop Grumman officials broke ground in Chantilly, Va., on a new 112,000-square-foot building at the company's Westfields campus.

The facility will house Northrop Grumman's core IT services to the national security community, such as advanced systems engineering and integration services and solutions. The construction marks the fourth and final building at the facility.

In addition to servicing its defense and national security customers, the new building will provide space for employees from its commercial, state and local group and civilian agencies group located in the Westfields Chantilly area, the company said.

Northrop Grumman of Los Angeles has 120,000 employees and had annual sales of $30 billion in 2006. The company ranks No. 2 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
