Noblis oblige: Mitretek changes name

Mitretek Systems has changed its name to Noblis Inc., a move that company officials believe better reflects the 11-year-old company's nature. Noblis, a non-profit science, technology and strategy company, positions itself as free of commercial interests and vendor alliances.

That allows the company to find impartial solutions to problems, according to Lydia Waters Thomas, the company's president and CEO.

Noblis of Falls Church, Va., specializes in systems, process and infrastructure problems in fields including transportation, health care, homeland security, risk assessment and other fields.

"It's important to note that we are not changing the work we do, or the way we operate," Thomas said.
