Lockheed Martin Corp. has completed its acquisition of Management Systems Designers Inc., a provider of IT and scientific services and solutions.

Lockheed Martin Corp. has completed its acquisition of Management Systems Designers Inc., a provider of IT and scientific services and solutions. Terms were not disclosed.

The defense giant plans to combine its systems engineering and integration capabilities with MSD's health care and other capabilities to develop expanded offerings for its customers.

MSD of Fairfax, Va., sells systems design, development and integration; systems engineering; and application support services. It also offers professional services, management consulting and specialized health and bioinformatics services. The company has more than 600 employees.

MSD's customers include the Internal Revenue Service, National Institutes of Health, intelligence agencies and departments of defense and homeland security.

Lockheed Martin first announced the acquisition Dec. 21, 2006.

Lockheed Martin, which has more than 140,000 employees and had annual sales of $39.6 billion in fiscal 2006, ranks No. 1 on Washington Technology's 2006 Top 100 list of the largest federal IT contractors.
