L-1 to deliver criminal booking systems to Texas

L-1 Identity Solutions will provide more than 100 criminal booking systems to the Texas Public Safety Department through an existing five-year contract.

As part of the deal, L-1 of Stamford, Conn., also will provide live-scan systems for finger recognition and integrated video mug shot capabilities.

The order comes from a blanket purchase agreement the Texas Public Safety Department awarded to Identix Inc. in June 2006. The new orders are worth more than $2.5 million, the company said.

L-1 plans to ship and install all of the booking systems at sheriffs' offices throughout the Lone Star State by the close of 2007.

The security and biometrics providers Viisage Technology Inc. and Identix merged in August 2006 to form L-1.
