ManTech lands $39M NAVAIR flight operations award

Under a $39 million contract with ManTech International Corp., the Naval Air Systems Command will receive an assortment of services for the Military Flight Operations Quality Assurance program.

NAVAIR, through the contract with the Fairfax, Va., company is looking to improve military flight operations by better utilizing flight data.

NAVAIR awarded the five-year contract to ManTech through the SeaPort Enhanced multiple-award program. The military flight program uses data downloaded after every flight to provide quantitative information about aircrew and aircraft performance. NAVAIR uses this data to improve aircraft training, operational preparedness and safety through recognizing human error, which is a causal factor in 70 percent to 80 percent of aviation problems, according to the Navy.

ManTech will provide knowledge management, software development, systems engineering, test and evaluation, integrated logistic support, training and management services under the contract. The company will perform the work at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Md.
